May 2005 (Delphi) 2D University Project

This project was developed in the first semester of the Computer Science Course. I was talking to some professors and told them that I had some experiences with game developing and I was told that they had a small game project which has stopped due to the lack of interests of the students. As result, I was invited to do a parallel game in Delphi using my previous experiences (my older project Dano-X) to develop a small educational game.

At the time, I had also joined the public university and my intentions were to study the Computer Science (afternoon) and Mathematics (morning) Courses at the same time, what is more, the Mathematics classes were about to start and that is why I could only stay for a month. Even with that limited time, I could develop a few features to fulfil their requirements.

The game was rather simple, they only asked to do a small game were the Hero (as they called the main character) had to catch some animals. The idea was to make kids be heroes and save the environment. That is what I have done in the period. Unfortunately I could not do the menu and the user interface for the game.

This game is quite different from my project Dano-X, first of all the movement of this game is more sensible whereas in the Dano-X we move by tiles (blocks of movement). The second main difference between is the isometric effect where the actors (Hero and animals) can stay behind other object such as a tree.

As summary, the features I have developed are:

  • Ability to move the hero and catch the animals
  • Place the sprite (hero/animal) behind other objects (for example tree)
